A Long Day’s Sail on Diamond Lake

At sunrise, a magical wind is created on Diamond Lake, due to the warming of the air on the shore. With no waves on the surface, the hand of the wind, effortlessly spirits you and your sailboat without making a sound as one passes Eagle Point and Diamond Shores.  With an early morning fog, you glide toward Wades like a bird, in and out of orange clouds tinted by the sunrise.  Later in the morning, the wind and you gather speed as you sail toward Camp Kozy.  You and the sailboat become one * the sheets and tiller becoming extensions of your arms.  If the wind and waves become too strong and big for most boats, you climb onto a small sailboat and fly across the wave tops toward Park Shores.   Even a flip over into the water adds to the sensual high.  In late afternoon, you stream through the millions of diamond-like flashing lights as the sun reflexes off the waves.  As evening approaches, you sail along Sandy Beach and Spring Beach toward the Diamond Lake Yacht Club.  The Diamond Isle becomes a magnificent jewel in the multicolor sunset.  After an evening of good fellowship at the Yacht Club, you cruise for home with the moon, the Milky Way, and the shore lights, guiding you through the quiet mystery of the night.
